The Maple Theatre Presents: SECRET CINEMA! (Thursday, June 2oth at 7:30pm)

March 17, 2013 1 Comment

The newly renovated Maple Theatre hosts its SECRET CINEMA on the first and third Thursdays of each month at 7:30.   This very popular event has been expanded to a twice monthly opportunity to share Old Hollywood(the first Thursday) and New Hollywood(the third Thursday)  films chosen and discussed by various film critics and professors.

I have attended six so far and have had a great time with ‘Gentlemen Prefer Blondes”,  “Vertigo” , “Saturday Night Fever” , “Before Sunrise”, “Bringing Up Baby” and this month’s special presentation of Otto Preminger’s “Bonjour Tristesse.”  Small clues are dispersed, but the true identity is kept tightly under wraps until the light hits the screen.

Tickets are only $5 and popcorn is free if you purchase anything else.

The Maple has done a terrific job establishing a special movie venue in the suburbs.  Their Oscar bash was great, complete with a red carpet walk and food and drink.  There is a comfortable mingling area and coffee and wine and other spirits for those who want to meet and gab about the movies before and after.

Don’t know what this month’s second  selection will be, but New Hollywood category places it after 1985.  See you at the movies!   Jolyn Wagner

  1. The Secret Cinema is a wonderful opportunity to see movies on the BIG SCREEN! Or to see movies that you think you’ve seen (because you’ve heard so much about them, but really never saw).
Take a chance, spin the wheel, sit in your seat and watch a great film! Jolyn
