Must See Movies of the Week: 2013 Academy Award Nominated Animated and Live Shorts at the DFT

January 30, 2013 No Comments

The Detroit Film Theatre is once again hosting the nominated short films in the animated and live action categories.  Here is a wonderful opportunity to view films that are unlikely to screen in any wide distribution.

This year’s nominated short animated films include:

Maggie Simpson The Longest Daycare (I’ve actually seen this one and it is a spot on hoot!)

Adam and Dog

Fresh Guacamole

Head over Heels

The films nominated for short live action films include:

Death of  a Shadow

Buzkashi Boys

Screening times (and please go online and buy your tickets now because the performances do sell out)

Friday, February 1 at 7m, Saturday, February 2 at 7pm and Sunday, February 3 at 1 and 6 pm

Friday,  February 8 at 7pm, Saturday February 9 at 7pm and Sunday, February 10 at 1pm and 6pm

Friday, February 15 at 7pm, Saturday, February 16 at 7pm and Sunday, February 17 at 1pm and 6 pm

There is a buzz of excitement for these events that feels alot like the “real” Oscars  must.   Come early, because parking is packed, but the crowds are a big part of the joy of “being there”.

And yes, once again, I am recommending films that I haven’t seen (except the Maggie Simpson).  You be the judge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Thank you Elliot Wilhelm and the DFT for bringing these films to Detroit again!!! Jolyn Wagner
