It’s Here: Reel Deal Mind Goes to the Toronto Film Festival: September 5-8

June 24, 2013 No Comments

Lights!  Cameras!  Action!!!!!

Join us now at the Toronto Film Festival for an opportunity to think, feel and express the joy of film.  We will board the train in a few hours and arrive in  a city transformed by thousands of cinephiles sharing the gift of film.  Hundreds of films will light up a variety of screens throughout the city, premiering films that will be screened and then discussed by the directors, producers and stars.

Diane and Jolyn will be there on the opening weekend and will share their experiences with daily reflections here on the website AND in the brand new podcast REELDEALMINDCAST.  We hope to capture at least some of the excitement in Toronto with discussions, interviews and chats with some of the thousands of filmatics here.

We are fortunate to travel with a group from the Detroit Film Theater and will actually have a chance to share thoughts and reflections with DFT curator Elliot Wilhelm.

We have ten films of our own to see ( six chosen and presented in a packet as part of our DFT experience and four addional that we have selected).  Some of the films here will be the center of discussion for months to come, others are small gems that will never see wider distribution.  And did I mention that directors will be here to answer questions?

Here’s a list of the films that we will screen:

The Past (Asghar Farhadi’s new film.  Farhadi directed ” A Separation”)

The Story of Children (the followup to Mark Cousin’s sublime Story of Film)

Hateship Loveship (comedy with Kristin Wiig etal)

Attila Marcel (Sylvain Chomet’s first non animated film)

12 Years a Slave (director Steve McQueen’s newest film starring Brad Pitt and others)

People in Places

All is By My Side

Hiroshima Mon Amour

Yes, it’s alot of films and there are so many that we will only have the pleasure of thinking about.  We promise to bring you the spirit and passion of the wonderful event.

Take a look at the oficial TIFF website for a summary of all of the films screening here and grab a listen to our Podcast as it launches from the heart of the world’s kindest film festival.

See you at the movies!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jolyn and Diane
