Hottest Films of the Upcoming Festival Circuit: What are you looking for???

June 18, 2014 No Comments

If you’ve grown weary of the summer blockbuster batch, you are probably wondering about the films that lit up the screens in Cannes and those making their way to Toronto, Venice  Telluride and ultimately to us.

Fortunately, there are ample sites scooping the most exciting films in our near future. If you are planning to attend the Toronto Film Festival this year, you may have already marked these as possible (or absolute) picks:

Birdman by Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu (who can believe that Amores Perros was made back in 2001?)

Men, Women and Children by Jason Reitman (remember that Ivan Reitman is a deity in Toronto)

Inherent Vice by Paul Thomas Anderson (how does he top The Master?)

Big Eyes by Tim Burton

Magic in the Moonlight by Woody Allen (he keeps churning out his movies)

Knight of Cups by Terence Malick (prepare to be whispered)

A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence by Roy Andersson (gotta love the title)

Unbroken by Angelina Jolie (possible blockbuster?)

Carol by Todd Haynes (a dose of darkness never hurt)

The End of the Tour:  this is a film about author David Foster Wallace(!)

Gone Girl by David Fincher (probable blockbuster)

A Most Violent Year by JC Chandor (Margin Call and All is Lost showcase his range)

Theory of Everything a biopic about Stephen Hawking (guaranteed to raise your IQ)

My Old Lady with Maggie Smith, Kevin Kline and Kristin Scott Thomas

Rosewater by John Stewart  in his directorial debut

I could go on and on and hope to keep updates about the newest films to drool over

See you at the movies!
