Sharks and Jets United!

Those of us fortunate to attend the Redford Theater’s tribute to West Side Story were reminded why some movies NEED to be seen on the big screen, surrounded by sound and shared with a mesmerized audience.  The story is ageless (thank you Shakespeare), the music riveting (Leonard Bernstein has yet to be surpassed) and the physicality of the choreography (Jerome Robbins sizzles) seems even better live in the streets of New York.  The film won TEN Academy Awards and redefined the American musical.

Rita Moreno was on hand to share some of the experiences of her long career.  She is an amazing actor, who at age 82 (!) moves with purpose and grace, fielding questions with a thoughtful, yet playful style that captured the audience (all 15oo of us!)

Thank you Redford Theater!
